Frequently asked questions

Who can apply for assistance?

Dog owners whose dog has been diagnosed with cancer may apply for assistance. Applicants must meet our eligibility requirements and provide veterinary records confirming their dog's diagnosis.

Does Fight Like Capone pay families directly?

No. If funding is available and an application is approved, financial assistance is paid directly to the treating veterinary hospital.

Does Fight Like Capone pay the entire cost of treatment?

Not usually. Our goal is to help offset the cost of care. Assistance amounts vary depending on available funding and each family's individual circumstances.

What expenses may be eligible?

Financial assistance may be available for cancer-related diagnostic testing, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, medications, palliative care, and, when appropriate, end-of-life services.

How long does the review process take?

Every application is carefully reviewed as quickly as possible. Processing times may vary depending on application volume and whether all required documentation has been received.

Am I guaranteed financial assistance if I apply?

No. Submitting an application does not guarantee funding. Assistance depends on eligibility, available funding, and the information provided with your application.

Can I apply before my dog has been diagnosed?

No. A confirmed cancer diagnosis from your veterinarian is required before an application can be considered.

Can I apply if I live outside Georgia?

Fight Like Capone accepts applications based on our current ability to provide assistance. While we are based in Georgia, applications from outside the state may also be considered. Our ability to help depends on available funding, veterinary verification, and our capacity to serve each case.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. Information submitted with your application is used only to evaluate your request and is handled with care and respect.

Can my veterinarian apply on my behalf?

At this time, applications must be submitted by the dog's owner or legal guardian. However, we welcome communication with your veterinary team throughout the application process.

Can I apply more than once?

Possibly. Every application is reviewed individually based on your dog's current medical needs, available funding, and the organization's ability to provide assistance at that time.

What happens if funding isn't available when I apply?

If funding is unavailable, we will let you know as soon as possible. While we may not be able to provide financial assistance in every case, we remain committed to offering compassion, educational resources, and additional support whenever we can.

Can I make a donation in memory or honor of a dog?

Yes. Tribute and memorial gifts are a meaningful way to celebrate the life of a beloved companion while helping other dogs receive the care they need.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Fight Like Capone is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

How can I volunteer?

We welcome individuals who want to make a difference. Whether you'd like to help at fundraising events, assist behind the scenes, use your professional skills, or support our mission in other ways, we'd love to hear from you.
