About Capone

Before there was Fight Like Capone, there was Capone.

Capone wasn't just our dog—he was our best friend, our constant companion, and the heart of our family. Calm, gentle, and endlessly loyal, he had a way of making everyone around him feel safe. He never rushed through life. Whether he was slowly greeting a visitor with a wag of his tail or quietly watching over our home, Capone had a peaceful presence that brought comfort to everyone who knew him.

He taught us that love doesn't have to be loud to be powerful.

When our family was grieving the unimaginable loss of two beloved family members, my son rescued Capone from a local shelter just hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. At the time, we believed we were saving his life. What we didn't realize was that he saved us, too.

Capone helped us heal, opened our hearts again, and changed the course of our lives in ways we never could have imagined. He made me want to become a better dog mom, introduced me to the incredible spirit of pit bulls, and ultimately led me down a path that would become my life's mission.

Years later, Capone was diagnosed with cancer.

For more than two and a half years, he faced every challenge with quiet courage, incredible strength, and an unwavering spirit. Throughout his journey, we experienced the emotional and financial realities that so many families face after hearing the words, "Your dog has cancer."

We also discovered the compassion of veterinary professionals, the kindness of complete strangers, and the extraordinary bond between people and the dogs they love.

Capone's journey changed everything.

His allergies inspired the creation of Capone's Barkery. His cancer inspired the creation of Fight Like Capone.I would never be the person I am today if it wasn't for one dog who was about to die for no other reason than he was taking up space.

Today, Capone's legacy lives on by helping dogs diagnosed with cancer and the families who love them through financial assistance, education, awareness, and compassionate support.

We hope his story reminds you to cherish every moment, never underestimate the impact one dog can have on a family, and always believe that every dog deserves the chance to fight like Capone.
